20,000 MMSD RAIN BARRELS & COUNTING
1.1 million gallons. That’s how much water you can capture with all the rain barrels that MMSD has sold or donated since 2003. Managing water where it falls is a simple way to help reduce water pollution, basement backups, and sewer overflows. You can also accumulate free water by the barrel by hooking up one or more of your downspouts to a rain barrel. At home, school, and work, there are many techniques to help slow water down, let it to soak into the ground naturally, or store it and avoid letting it become someone else’s headache downhill. We need your help managing 740 million gallons of water for every rain storm. It’s a huge challenge that we want to accomplish by 2035.
