Responsible Battery Coalition to hold Sept. 8-9 Battery Recycling Collections,

Sponsoring Rock the Green Festival to Promote Sustainability

Milwaukee, WI (Aug. 31, 2017) – The Responsible Battery Coalition (RBC) will host two battery recycling collections on Sept. 8 and 9 in conjunction with its sponsorship of the popular Rock the Green sustainability festival. The emphasis is on conventional vehicle batteries. Every participant will receive a $25 discount to Rock the Green for conventional vehicle batteries or a $5 discount for other batteries. Veolia and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) are partners for non-vehicle battery recycling.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to drop off used batteries for recycling at these locations:

Friday, Sept. 8
10 a.m.-4:00 p.m.    Parking lot, 6151 N. Baker Road, Glendale (by Glendale’s city park, on the corner of Bender Road and Baker Road)

Saturday, Sept. 9
2:00-5:00 p.m.    Rock the Green, adjacent to the box office, Reed Street Yards, Milwaukee

Pat Hayes, executive director of the Responsible Battery Coalition, said, “Every battery needs to be responsibly managed, and that's why we exist. While current vehicle batteries have a 99% recycling rate, our goal is 100%.  Rock the Green’s mission is to promote zero waste, and that’s what we want to see also. Our work is to accelerate solutions to ensure all batteries are responsibly managed.”
The Responsible Battery Coalition’s mission is to advance the responsible production, transport, sale, use, reuse, recycling and recovery of transportation, stationary and industrial batteries and other energy storage devices, regardless of the technology used to make them.
