The MMSD 2022 Annual Performance Report describes activities undertaken between January and December 2022 to meet our customer needs, regulatory obligations, and contribute towards achieving our 2035 Vision of a healthier Milwaukee region and a cleaner Lake Michigan.

Consisting of more than 35,000 square feet of permeable pavement, the School Sisters of St. Francis Project is managing water where it falls underneath its parking lot. The project helps protect the Kinnickinnic River and Lake Michigan by managing over 130,000 gallons of stormwater each time it rains.

Heavy rain and snowmelt resulted in an MMSD sewer overflow from February 27 to March 1, 2023.

MMSD's diversity aids us in our success of being a regional protector of our rivers and Lake Michigan. Our efforts, along with community partners, provide cleaner waterways for our drinking water, protect our recreational opportunities, restore our natural habitat, and make the Milwaukee region a better place to live.
