We want to than the residents for their support and patience during construction of this important project.
In 2020 the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) completed a planning study to develop system improvements that would reduce wastewater levels in MMSD sewers on West Roosevelt Drive and eliminate a sanitary sewer overflow connection to an existing City of Milwaukee storm sewer.
The West Roosevelt Sewer Improvement Project resolves to achieve both these goals. First, the construction of new MMSD and City of Milwaukee sewers and manholes will reroute high wastewater flows to areas of the MMSD sewer system that have a greater capacity to handle excess wastewater during wet weather events. Second, the removal of a sanitary sewer overflow pump station at North 35th Street and West Roosevelt Drive will allow the construction of the MMSD’s West Basin Stormwater Management Project, which is the third and final component of an integrated system to address recurrent flooding in the 30th Street Corridor.
