Workforce And Business Development

The District, through its Workforce and Business Development Resource Program, works to utilize consultants, contractors, vendors, and local workers reflective of the diversity of the District’s Sewer Service Area. The program offers apprentice readiness preparation, college internships, business seminars, and business coaching, and networking opportunities.

Business Capacity Development

Increases the capacity of local, small, veteran, minority and women-owned businesses to better compete for and participate on District and City projects and increase the number of minorities and women in management and leadership positions.

Regional Internship for Science and Engineering

(RISE) matches talented college students from the region who are studying engineering and construction with District engineering, contracting and consulting firms for summer internship opportunities.

Apprentice Readiness and Workforce Planning

Recruits, trains, and helps to place minorities and women in the construction trades as well as workforce planning services to employers and access to no-cost training for workers.

The Workforce & Business Development Resource program will continue to align not only with the long term needs of the District’s capital improvement plan, but will also now incorporate resources to help develop Green Infrastructure installation and maintenance services and the labor market associated with this work.
