Water Systems Monitoring provides technical oversight of Water Reclamation Facility and Conveyance data system operations, managing the installation and maintenance of a diverse network of conveyance instrumentation, including meters that measure levels, flows, rain, toxic gases, and other parameters throughout the service area. The team analyzes wet weather events to ensure critical system measurements are accurately captured and communicated and supports regulatory reporting efforts, including Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) documentation. By ensuring data quality and maintaining essential databases, Water Systems Monitoring delivers analysis, review, and reporting of facility and conveyance system data that supports internal and external customers, as well as compliance, capital planning, and engineering initiatives.
The Field Monitoring team collects samples, field measurements, and system data to support District programs and compliance with the Wisconsin Pollution Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Permit. Their work spans industrial waste pretreatment, portable flow monitoring, groundwater and real-time water quality monitoring, and structural assessments of critical conveyance infrastructure, including installing, calibrating, and maintaining select monitoring equipment. The team verifies CSOs, SSOs, and other field-identified issues by providing reliable, real-time information, and supports the Industrial Waste Pretreatment Program (IWPP) through sampling, field measurements, and inspection assistance. Staff are also trained and certified for confined space entry rescue, ensuring they can respond safely to the full range of conditions encountered in the field.
