(Milwaukee, WI) - A section of trail at the Milwaukee County Grounds will be temporarily closed for about two weeks, starting the week of May 11, 2026 while crews repair a damaged hillside that may pose a safety risk to the public using the trail.
The closed section is along the southwest path, from Swan Road to the Forest Exploration Center parking lot. Please follow the posted signs and avoid the area during construction.
The Milwaukee County Grounds site helps protect more than 300 homes and structures in Wauwatosa and Milwaukee by storing water from the Menomonee River and Underwood Creek watersheds during heavy rains. This work will stabilize the slope, protect the integrity of the flood management facility, and ensure the long-term safety of visitors and maintenance staff.
The trail will reopen once the work is complete. Thank you for your patience as we make these important repairs.
