MMSD CAD and BIM Standards

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) CAD and BIM Standards specify standards and procedures for the use of Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) by MMSD staff and by consultants to MMSD. These standards have been established to achieve the following objectives:

  • Provide consistency in drafting and modeling for MMSD facility information.
  • Provide consistency in format, content, and data structure to facilitate review and use of drawings and models.
  • Preserve the usefulness and accessibility of drawing and model deliverables to MMSD in the future.

MMSD requires that all new project drawings and models are submitted in accordance with MMSD CAD and BIM standards. New project deliverables that do not comply with these standards will not be accepted and will be returned to the consultant for correction.

Virtual Design Collaboration and Project Data Sharing

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is used by MMSD to support collaboration on CAD and BIM projects. ACC serves as a Common Data Environment (CDE) where project teams may access and share drawings, models, standards, and other project documentation, including survey and reality capture data, within a shared environment.

Use of ACC is optional and may be applied when it provides value to both internal and external stakeholders. When used, ACC provides a CDE for managing project information and supporting collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Requesting ACC Access

Consultants may be granted access to ACC as needed to support project delivery or access to MMSD standards and templates, either through their existing ACC licenses or, when needed, by arrangement with MMSD.

To request access:

  1. Download and complete the ACC Access Request Form
  2. List all individuals who require access to ACC for the project
  3. Email the completed form to rchavez@mmsd.com

ACC access requests will be reviewed and coordinated with MMSD staff, as appropriate, to support collaboration and access to standards and templates.
