Through a transformational reforestation and wetland restoration project, Mequon Nature Preserve partnered with MMSD’s Reforestation & Wetland Restoration program to restore 9 acres of wetlands and plant more than 43,000 trees over the past four years.

Equipment failure led to an estimated 150,000 gallons of wastewater spilling onto a patch of land at the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility. No wastewater entered Lake Michigan or nearby rivers.
